Lidia Gómez García obtained her BA and MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). In October 1999, she was admitted to the Ph.D Programme in English Linguistics of the USC and from October 2004 to April 2006 she worked at the Department of English as a research fellow funded by the Autonomous Government of Galicia. Between 2006 and 2007, she worked as a research assistant to the ELC (English Linguistics Circle) network. She has actively participated in the SULEC (Santiago University Learner of English Corpus) project funded by the Galician Ministry of Education. She was a member of the Organising Committee of two conferences held at the University of Santiago: ELC1 (First ELC International Postgraduate Conference on English Linguistics, 10-11 May 2008) and ICELTL1 (First International Conference on English Language Teaching and Learning, 10-13 September 2008). At the moment, she is preparing her Ph.D dissertation on it-cleft sentences in modern English, under the supervision of Ignacio Palacios, and is also working as a research assistant to SPERTUS. She also collaborates in the CMC_E (Communicating in Multilingual Contexts meets the Enterprises) project, funded by the EU, and being conducted by several European Universities.
