Lidia Gómez García

Lidia Gómez García obtained her BA and MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Santiago de Compostela. In 1999, she was admitted to the PhD Programme in English Linguistics of the USC and from October 2004 to April 2006 she worked at the Department of English as a research fellow funded by the Autonomous Government of Galicia. She has actively participated in the SULEC (Santiago University Learner of English Corpus) project funded by the Galician Ministry of Education. She has also collaborated in the CMC (Communicating in Multilingual Contexts) and the CMC_E (Communicating in Multilingual Contexts meets the Enterprises) projects, funded by the EU, and being conducted by several European Universities. She was a member of the Organising Committee of several conferences held at the University of Santiago: ELC1 (First ELC International Postgraduate Conference on English Linguistics, 10-11 May 2008), ICELTL1 (First International Conference on English Language Teaching and Learning, 10-13 September 2008), ICSE 2014 (International Conference on Spoken English: Descriptive and Applied Perspectives, 4-6 June 2014) and ICNICE 2018 (Pushing English to the limit: Innovation, creativity and communicative negotiation in native and non-native contexts, 14-15 June 2018). At the moment, she is preparing her PhD dissertation on British youth language and is also working as a research assistant to ELC (English Linguistics Circle) network and to the research team SPERTUS (Spoken English Research Team at the University of Santiago).
